Privacy Policy — Ultimate Player

Ultimate Player is a media player for content you already own — files on your network shares, local storage, and your own media servers. It is built to keep your data on your device.

The short version: Ultimate Player has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no crash-reporting or tracking SDKs. We (the developer) do not collect, receive, store, or sell any of your personal information. Your settings, playback history, downloads, and the credentials for your media servers stay on your device.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the Ultimate Player Android application (the “App”), published on Google Play. It explains what data the App handles, where that data goes, and the permissions the App requests.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal data. The App has no sign-in, no user profile, and no server operated by the developer. There is no analytics, advertising, or telemetry in the App. We have no way to see how you use the App or what media you play.

3. Data stored on your device

To function, the App stores the following locally on your device only. This information is never transmitted to the developer:

Media source configuration and credentials — the addresses, usernames, passwords, and access tokens you enter for your own media sources (for example SMB/network shares, WebDAV, Plex, Jellyfin, DLNA/UPnP renderers, and direct URLs). These are stored on the device so the App can reconnect to your sources.
Library and playback data — the list of media the App has scanned from your sources, watch/unwatched status, and playback progress, so you can resume where you left off.
Downloads — media you choose to download for offline playback, saved in the App’s storage.
Preferences — your in-app settings (theme, playback options, and similar).

This data is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its storage.

4. Connections to your own media servers

When you add a media source, the App connects directly from your device to the server you specified (for example a computer on your home network, or your own Plex/Jellyfin server). Your credentials and media travel between your device and your server only. The developer is not a party to, and has no access to, these connections.

5. Third-party services

The App can fetch cover artwork and descriptive metadata (posters, titles, summaries) to make your library look nicer. When these features are used, the App sends the title text of a movie or show (not your identity) to the following services and receives images/metadata in return:

These requests contain only the search terms needed to find artwork. They do not include your name, account, device identifiers, or the contents of your media.

This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

6. Permissions the App requests

Internet & network/Wi-Fi state	To connect to your media servers and to fetch artwork/metadata; to detect network availability.
Change Wi-Fi multicast state	To discover DLNA/UPnP devices (“Cast to TV”) on your local network.

7. Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information — because we do not collect any. The only data leaving your device is (a) traffic to media servers you configure, and (b) the artwork title queries described in Section 5.

8. Data security

Data the App stores — including media-server credentials — is kept in the App’s private storage on your device and is protected by your device’s own security (screen lock, encryption). Please keep your device secure. Uninstalling the App or clearing its data removes this information.

9. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated “Last updated” date.
