Privacy Policy

Ultimate Media Player has no account system, no analytics, no advertising and no developer-operated server. Your library, your credentials and your viewing history stay on your device.

Who this policy covers

This policy describes how the Ultimate Media Player app ("the app") handles information. The app is published by an independent developer, contactable at vnikie1@gmail.com. There is no company backend: the developer operates no server that stores or receives your data.

What stays on your device

Everything the app needs in order to work is stored in the app's own private storage on your device, which no other app can read:

• Your library index — the titles, folders and file paths found on the sources you connected, plus the artwork and descriptions fetched for them.
• Viewing state — resume positions, watched markers, watchlist, playlists and collections.
• Your settings — playback, appearance, subtitle and metadata preferences.
• Downloaded files — anything you chose to download for offline viewing.
• Server details — the addresses and credentials of the sources you added.

None of this is transmitted to the developer. It is removed when you delete the app.

Your servers and credentials

Passwords and access tokens for the sources you add are encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM, using a key held in the iOS Keychain. They are sent only to the server you entered them for, in order to sign in to it — never anywhere else.

When you connect to a Jellyfin or Plex server, the app identifies itself with a random identifier generated on your device at install time. This lets your server list your device alongside your other clients. It contains nothing about you, is not shared with any third party, and is regenerated if you reinstall the app.

What your own server records about your activity is governed by that server's own configuration and by the policies of whoever runs it — not by this policy.

Local network access

To offer you nearby servers instead of making you type in addresses, the app looks for SMB and FTP services advertised on your local network. iOS asks your permission before this happens, and you can refuse or later withdraw it in iOS Settings → Ultimate Player → Local Network. Nothing discovered this way leaves your device. Declining only means you add servers manually.

Third-party services the app contacts

To show artwork, descriptions, ratings and subtitles, the app queries the following services directly from your device. Each request contains the search terms needed to identify the title — typically a name and year, or a filename — and, as with any internet request, your device's IP address is visible to that service. No account identifier is attached, because the app has no accounts.

You can avoid metadata lookups entirely by turning artwork and metadata fetching off in Settings → Metadata & Artwork. Subtitle services are contacted only when you ask for subtitles.

Crash and performance data

The app can collect crash and performance reports using Apple's built-in MetricKit. This is off by default and only starts if you turn on Share Crash Data in Settings → General.

Even when it is on, these reports are written to the app's own private storage on your device and are not transmitted anywhere. They contain technical information such as launch times, memory use and crash stack traces — not your library, your files or your viewing history. Turning the setting off stops collection and deletes anything already collected.

Purchases

Ultimate Media Player is purchased through the App Store. Apple handles the transaction and your payment details; the developer never sees them. Apple's handling of that information is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Tracking

The app does not track you. It contains no advertising or analytics SDK, does not use the Advertising Identifier, does not build a profile of you, and never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission because it has nothing to ask for.

Children

Ultimate Media Player is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included. The app plays whatever media you point it at, so a parent or guardian should supervise what a child can reach through the sources they configure.

Keeping your data, and deleting it

Data stays on your device for as long as the app is installed. To remove all of it, delete the app — that erases the library index, settings, viewing state, downloaded files, saved credentials and any collected diagnostics. You can also clear downloads individually from Settings → Downloads, and remove a source (along with everything indexed from it) from Settings.

Because the developer holds none of your data, there is nothing to request or delete from us. If you live somewhere with data-protection rights such as the GDPR or CCPA, the practical effect is that those rights are satisfied on your device: you hold the data and can delete it at any time.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. A change that materially affects how information is handled will also be noted in the app's release notes.
